I am thankful for you.
The other day I was talking with my husband about beginning a blog (which I have wanted to do for a long time) He came up with the name Mom2the9’s. We have nine kids together… I loved it! I was completely inspired. So I begin…
I’m not a supermodel mom, just average. Just wanted to clarify that “to the 9’s” isn’t necessarily referring to my impeccable style.
When my kids were little I was more concerned with comfort over fashion and what would feel the best when I had five minutes to nod off rather than what clothes were best for my body type. One late afternoon I took 15 minutes to get ready for an event I was attending (which, of course, turned into an hour, with kids knocking on the bathroom door and more than a few interruptions)
We cargoed the kids to McDonalds, since I didn’t have time to cook a healthy dinner and the kids had a place to run off their energy and build their immune system when they were mostly done eating. My daughter looked at me and said, “Momma, you look so beautiful. You look like someone else.” Yep.
Now my kids have told me that I’m the only person they know that has looked better as they’ve grown older. Kudos. Maybe it’s that I don’t wear my stretchy pants and oversized t-shirts any more or that I no longer have to clean someone else’s mess off me all day. I’m solely responsible for any mess that is on my clothing, unfortunately.
I have been a stay at home, homeschool mom, and the mother of a public school graduate; a widow and single mom, a small business owner, barista, old newlywed and new stepmother, now almost an empty nester. The path of life twists and turns. We never know what’s around the corner. There have been times I’ve been so thankful there was a corner to turn and others that I swear there was nowhere to go but off the cliff. There have been beautiful vistas and dark valleys. I am here, learning, growing and still kicking. I’m excited to share my thoughts here with you–or maybe just with me–we’ll see how this turns out
